Good day, Meetpastordan Readers…I am indeed excited about this particular subject because as my regular readers are well aware, I have stated one of my core beliefs numerous times – and that is: ‘God has done it all!’ Now I am going to substantiate why I so unabashedly believe and state that. Let me begin with a story found in Exodus, 3,4. ‘Moses was tending his flock of sheep when he saw a burning bush. But as he watched the bush, he noticed it wasn’t burning up. As he walked closer, the Lord spoke to Moses from the bush saying, “Take off your sandals. You are standing on holy ground.” And then He said, “I am the God of your father, the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob.” Then He told Moses He was aware of the oppression of His people (the Jews), and and that He was going to appoint him (Moses) to approach Pharoah to say, “Let My people go!” At this, Moses was terribly frightened and asked, ‘What if they ask who gave me the authority to make this request’, and the Lord reminded Moses, “I AM WHO I AM. Say this to the pharoah: I AM has sent me!! This is My eternal name to be remembered for all generations.”
That eternal name designates unfathomable love, power, mercy, grace and forgiveness. In fact, so unfathomable that God chose to clarify it: “My ways are not your ways, my thoughts are not your thoughts. As high as the heavens are above the earth, as far as the east is from the west, my ways are not your ways and My thoughts are not your thoughts!!” If that were not impressive enough, let’s look at His majestic qualities: Omniscience, omnipotence, omnipresence, infallibility, and eternal. Who else, or what else, could possibly compare to our unconditional, unfailing and unending God? Nothing! In fact, I AM defines those three ‘un-qualities!’
Perhaps that is why we are cautioned in Psalm 46:10; “Be still and know that I am God.” God isn’t something to be figured-out, however probably no other name has garnered more discussion or debate than this name. Those who don’t believe can certainly can give a heart-felt reason for their position, (even though we know it’s a mis-informed position). Our response is to pray for them; in fact, it’s a great opportunity for us to share the “good news” – but in love. 😊
It tells us in the Book of Romans that no one has an excuse for not knowing God, because His love is displayed throughout His creation. Just look at the heavens, the sun, the moon and the stars; look at the ocean; look at the trees and flowers, or best of all – look into the eyes of a new born baby. How did all of this happen? How could all of this have been created out of nothing? There have been a lot of cockamamie answers spewed forth, but none that have been able to withstand the scrutiny the Word of God has endured. But because it is an inerrant writing, (ref. 2 Timothy 3:16) it is still standing strong and bringing to life the truth of this scripture: “No weapon formed against God will prosper.” (Isaiah 54:17)
I AM is the strongest statement that can be made because it always delineates God! No doubt Jesus knew that when He proclaimed His own dietity with His seven I AM statements in the gospel of John: “I Am the bread of life. I Am the light of the world. I AM the door of the sheep. I AM the good shepherd. I AM the resurrection and the life. I AM the way, the truth, and the life. And, I AM the vine. And the final exclamations are, “If you have seen me, you have seen the Father”, and “The Father and I are one!”
Our God, whether He is referred to as the ‘Great I Am’ or ‘Abba Father’, is Love! The only thing that can emanate from Him is love. No doubt we all know that because we have believed, trusted and experienced Him. The same God that said “Let there be light”, that parted the Red Sea, that gave the promised land to His Chosen, and brought the Artemis 11 space craft safely back to earth wants nothing more than for us to invite Him into our lives. Can you imagine that? Us mere mortals? But we have to remember that Creation took six days so that the world could be perfect at the end of the 6th day for His proudest creation – us! Hard to wrap your head around – Right? But it is all true! And, He is also the keeper of His treasure-trove of blessings which He loves to pour out lavishly on those who believe. That is who He is! He is the Great I AM, which means He is EVERYTHING!! Nothing is impossible for Him. All we have to do is to trust and obey! But here’s more good news…the smiles from heaven will be brighter if we share His truth with those still in darkness!
May God Bless You, my Brothers and Sisters, and please share this with others.
